ਇੱਟਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ
ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ
ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ
ਲਕੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਬੂਹੇ
ਘਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਾਅਨ
ਕਿੰਨੀ ਵੀ ਤਰਤੀਬ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਟੇ ਹੋਣ
ਉਹ ਘਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ
ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਭੈਣ-ਭਰਾ
ਕੰਧਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ
ਤੇ ਪਿਓ ਇਕ ਛੱਤ
ਘਾਹ ਫੂਸ ਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ
ਜਾਂ ਟਾਈਲਾਂ ਦੀ
ਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ
ਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਡ ਬਖਸ਼ਦੀ ਹੈ
ਤੇ ਸਰਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਿੱਘ
ਬੱਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਾਏ ਪਲਾਂਟ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਇਕਾਈ
ਇਕ ਘਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਦੀ ਨ੍ਹੇਰੀ ਵਗਦੀ ਹੈ
ਤੇ ਝੱਖੜ ਝੁੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ
ਛੱਤ ਉਡ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਤੇ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ
ਮਾਂ ਆਪਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੀ
ਗਠੜੀ ਲਪੇਟ ਕੇ
ਦੂਰ ਅਣ-ਦੇਖੇ ਦੇਸ਼
ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮੀਟ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ, ਸੱਤਾਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ
ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ
ਗੋਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਉਦੋਂ ਘਰ ਖੰਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਕੰਧਾਂ ਬੂਹੇ ਬਾਰੀਆਂ
ਤੇ ਘਾਹ ਦਿਆਂ ਲਾਅਨਾਂ ਤੇ
’ਫਾਰ ਸੇਲ
ਦੇ ਫੱਟੇ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
